President Trump Says United States Will Administer Venezuela Until a Secure Leadership Transition

The president discloses details of an unprecedented operation in Caracas and frames temporary U.S. oversight as necessary to protect the Venezuelan people
President Donald Trump disclosed new details about a United States operation in Venezuela and declared that Washington will manage the country until what he described as a safe and orderly transition of power is completed.

Speaking publicly, Trump characterized the operation as unprecedented in scale, stating that nothing comparable had occurred since the Second World War.

The president said the operation targeted what he called a fortified stronghold in the heart of Caracas and was designed to prevent Venezuela from being governed by leadership he accused of disregarding the welfare of its citizens.

He stated unequivocally that the United States would not allow the country to remain under the control of individuals who, in his words, “do not care about the people”.

Trump framed the decision as a temporary measure, emphasizing that U.S. involvement would continue only until conditions were established for a secure and legitimate transfer of power.

He did not provide a detailed timeline or governance structure but presented the move as necessary to stabilize the country and prevent further harm to the Venezuelan population.

While many operational details remain undisclosed, the president’s remarks marked a clear escalation in U.S. involvement and signaled a willingness to assume direct responsibility for Venezuela’s administration during the interim period.

The announcement underscored the administration’s view that extraordinary circumstances justified extraordinary action.

The statement represents one of the most far-reaching declarations of U.S. authority over a foreign state in modern history.
